Karen O’Shea

It is a rare occurrence in this world of entertainment overload to be stopped in your tracks by a beautiful voice. Karen O’Shea is an exceptional vocalist with the ability to grab your attention and hold it with every mesmerising note. It is not uncommon for the audience to be emotionally moved by the sincere passion and purity of her voice.

Little wonder that Karen’s talent has captured the attention of many industry professionals resulting in tour supports for Randy Crawford (USA) and Australian stars, Christine Anu, Jimmy Barnes and James Morrison, as well as singing backup vocals for Richard Clapton and Jean Stafford.

In 1996 Karen was honoured to receive a personal invitation from Australian High Commissioner, so struck was he by her voice, to personally perform for the Sultan of Brunei and his family.

After graduating from the CMAA College of Country Music in 1997, Karen co-wrote and recorded I Can Fly with ‘Star Maker’ winner Lyn Bowtell. Their song was included on the Channel 7 series ‘Outback Adventures’ and released on the subsequent ABC soundtrack.

In 1999 Karen was selected as one of the most promising new artists when she became a Grand Finalist in the prestigious Tamworth Star Maker Awards – and again in 2000.

But 2001 shaped up to be her most exciting year. Working closely with one of Australia’s foremost producers, Rod McCormack, Karen released the first single My Love Goes That Far (a 3 track EP) from her forthcoming album called WISH This recording reflected all the class, sophistication and elegance that is inherent in Karen, both personally and musically, and is on a par with that of her idols – Nashville divas Trisha Yearwood and Martina McBride.

The response to Karen’s acclaimed single has resulted in National TV appearances and widespread airplay. The highlight was that she scooped the coveted ‘International Frank Ifield Spur Award‘ for best new female performer 2001 and as a consequence reached #7 in the EMS charts for two weeks remaining a perennial favourite in the European top twenty for 9 weeks. It’s widely predicted that this year will be Karen’s big year of stardom! In January she took out the top honours as ‘Female Independent Artist of 2002‘ at the ‘TIARA‘ Awards in Tamworth, Then in March comes her follow-up release in Europe of She Broke Your Heart from her debut album. Karen O’Shea is quickly establishing herself as a world class vocalist who is set to stop a lot of people in their tracks.
